PRO-LIFE WORK
PROCAF a pro-life and child protection organization was started with an objective of raising awareness to families, the youth on the danger of abortion and contraceptives. Also to create awareness to communities on alternatives to contraceptives according to the catholic teaching use of natural family planning and how effective the method is to space births.
Economic empowerment through Skilling
We target teenage mothers, orphans, and vulnerable girls. They are all empowered to employ strategies to meet their daily needs independently. We train them for six months in tailoring, knitting, hairdressing, handcraft making.
Psychosocial support
Targeted beneficiaries are teenage mothers, orphans and vulnerable children including those with HIV and disabilities. PROCAF supports young mothers to regain emotional and psychological stability, become more resilient through improved access to basic social services; i.e clothes, scholastic materials to those with school going children.
Child protection
Targeted beneficiaries are children both before birth and after birth through our prolife advocacy, family strengthening, positive parenting training, and positive discipline coaching to teachers. All this is done by using radio broadcasting, parent’s days at school, conferences, and family interactive talks.
Family strengthening and gender equality promotion
Targeted beneficiaries are local community members struggling to keep strong families. Our outcome is to help families have improved gender relations between men and women, boys and girls, empowering them to participate equally in decisions that affect them.
Emergency accommodation for vulnerable girls with crisis pregnancy/ with babies
Targeted beneficiaries are girls who are pregnant and have been chased away from their parents, neglected by their boyfriends, and those who already have babies. The accommodation is given for six months as we offer them apprenticeship training in tailoring and knitting, hairdressing, shoes making, and beading.
PROCAF Microfinance
PROCAF beneficiaries including child caregivers in four sub counties are trained in financial literacy, business selection planning, and management, agribusiness, child protection, gender based violence prevention, and food security. The ten groups we have in the four sub counties have learnt the value of saving, and thus with the little money they have saved, and borrowing from the members helps them to take care of their daily needs including paying school fees for the children under their care.
PROCAF Tours
PROCAF Tours was started in 2017 as a social business to raise money to support the organization; for instance paying for the PROCAF premises, utility bills, and support to the girls in their skilling up program. We do community tourism, environmental awareness walks, mountain climbing, family exchange visits to learn different cultures, picnics, forest/ nature walks, chimpanzee tracking, and crater lakes tours, fitness days among others.
SKILLS FOR THE YOUTH AT PROCAF TO END UNEMPLOYMENT IN UGANDA
we train vulnerable girls in practical skills that can help them start their own businesses and live a more meaningful life and their babies. There are a lot of success stories of girls whom we have trained and they are already earning from their skills ,supporting their families and their babies.
Making Reusable Pads at Rwenzori Pro-life and Child care Foundation to save the Environment.
PROCAF trains and makes Re-usable pads to support girls to keep in school
Girls find it hard to get Money to buy sanitary pads every month,they miss school,and others drop out.
Making Re-usable pads is a strategy to increase the girl’s stay in school,and also the pads are environmental friendly.
